DuckTales turned Scrooge McDuck's cane into one of the NES's best movement tools — a pogo-bounce that doubles as an attack, a way to cross spike pits, and the fastest way down from any ledge. Five stages (Amazon, Africa, Transylvania, the Himalayas, and the Moon) can be tackled in any order, each hiding an item cache that adds directly to Scrooge's running treasure total, which in turn unlocks bonus endings the more you collect.

The Moon stage in particular has outlived the rest of the game's reputation — its music was later remixed into "DuckTales Remastered" and referenced constantly across internet meme culture, to the point where plenty of people who've never touched the NES original can still hum it. Boss fights against series villains like Flintheart Glomgold and the Beagle Boys round out a game that's considerably more forgiving than most Capcom NES platformers of the era.
