Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney puts you behind the defense table as a rookie lawyer who has exactly one tool against overwhelming prosecution evidence: the truth, badly hidden in a testimony full of holes. Investigation segments send you tapping through crime scenes for evidence and talking to witnesses, while courtroom segments turn every cross-examination into a rhythm of pressing statements for more detail and slamming down the one piece of evidence that contradicts what's just been said.

The DS release compiles the four original Game Boy Advance cases plus an original fifth case, Rise from the Ashes, written specifically for this version and not found in the GBA original — giving even players who know the earlier games new material. Its dialogue-driven pacing and over-the-top courtroom personalities turned it into the game that launched the whole Ace Attorney franchise in the West.
