New Super Mario Bros DS scatters three Star Coins across every one of its 80 levels, and grabbing all 240 is one of the toughest side-goals in the game — some coins sit behind timed platform sequences, others need a well-placed Mega Mushroom or Propeller Suit run, and a handful only show up if you enter a level from a specific direction on the world map.

Collecting every Star Coin is also the only way to reveal every extra path on each world map and unlock the coin-gated Toad Houses, so a lot of players end up stuck two or three coins short with no clear indication of which level they missed.
