Four-player split-screen turns the whole game into a party centerpiece — Grand Prix cups can be raced solo against CPUs or split across controllers, and Battle Mode swaps circuits for arenas where popping opponents' balloons with green shells, bananas, and the return of the triple red shell decides the winner. Rainbow Road closes out the Special Cup as the series' signature test of nerve, a neon track with no guardrails and a fall that costs real time.
