Super Mario World
ROM download for Delta Emulator iOS · The 1990 SNES pack-in — Yoshi's first appearance, the Cape Feather, and 96 exits across Dinosaur Land
About
Super Mario World shipped alongside the SNES itself in 1990, bundled into the console as the game meant to prove 16-bit hardware was worth the upgrade — and it delivered on that in about the first ten seconds, when Mario hops onto a dinosaur's back for the first time. Yoshi's debut here wasn't just a cute addition; the ability to gulp enemies, spit fireballs, and flutter-jump past a gap reshaped what a Mario level could ask of a player.
The map itself broke from the old world-select grid, replacing it with an interconnected overworld full of secret paths, hidden exits, and Star Roads that let a sharp-eyed player skip whole sections of the game. Between the Cape Feather's flight mechanic, the Fire Flower carried over from Mario 3, and a colorway that finally let Dinosaur Land look genuinely alien, this is the game most players still picture when someone says '2D Mario.'
