Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising picks up after the first game's ending twist — the Black Hole Army wasn't fully destroyed, and it resurfaces under a new lineup of Commanding Officers with their own gimmicks, forcing Orange Star and its allies back into a second full campaign to finish the job.
The sequel roughly doubles the CO roster with new commanders on both sides, expands the CO Power system with more distinct playstyles, and adds War Room mode — a set of standalone tactical puzzles and challenge maps separate from the story campaign for players who want pure strategy without narrative pacing.
