Advance Wars puts you in command of Orange Star and its allied nations as the mysterious Black Hole Army launches a coordinated invasion, turning a simple training campaign into a full war fought across grid-based battle maps with infantry, tanks, artillery, and naval and air units, each with rock-paper-scissors style strengths and weaknesses against the others.
The series' signature feature is its cast of Commanding Officers — each CO brings passive bonuses to specific unit types plus a CO Power that can be unleashed once enough units engage in combat, from healing and repair effects to devastating direct-damage strikes, turning every battle into as much a matchup of commanders as of armies.
