Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand is Hideo Kojima's genre-bending detour into vampire-hunting action RPG territory, starring the solar-blessed Django and his talking gun, the Gun Del Sol, on a quest through zombie- and vampire-infested dungeons across Africa. The original cartridge famously packed a real solar sensor that read actual sunlight to charge your weapon — a gimmick that made the game equal parts action RPG and outdoor scavenger hunt.

Stripped of the physical sensor on emulator, the core dungeon-crawling still holds up: charge shots that turn zombies to dust, plant-based traversal puzzles, and a day/night cycle that changes enemy behavior keep the pacing tense even without the original hardware gimmick. It's one of the more unusual entries in the GBA library, closer to a survival-horror-lite RPG than a typical top-down action game.
