Metroid Fusion

Metroid Fusion drops Samus Aran onto the research station BSL after an X parasite outbreak nearly kills her — survival requires a vaccine synthesized from the last Metroid in existence, which leaves her with new abilities but also makes her vulnerable to the very parasites she's fighting. Guided (and second-guessed) by the station AI Adam, Samus works sector by sector to contain the outbreak.

The game's defining threat is the SA-X, a doppelganger that absorbed Samus's old Power Suit abilities and stalks her through the station in genuinely tense chase sequences — encountering it usually means running, not fighting. Fusion trades the series' usual open-ended exploration for a tighter, more linear structure with mission objectives, making it one of the more approachable entry points into Metroid's platforming and item-hunting formula.
