Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
ROM download for Delta Emulator iOS · Jonathan and Charlotte explore a castle full of paintings that open onto entire hidden worlds
About
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin sets its two leads loose in a castle whose corridors are lined with massive paintings you can physically step into, each one a self-contained biome — a frozen city, a waterlogged ruin, a sun-scorched desert — instead of the single sprawling map the series usually builds. Jonathan Morris swings a whip and secondary weapons in melee, while Charlotte Aulin casts ranged spells from books, and you can swap between them instantly or, in local co-op, hand the second character to a friend.
The painting-hub structure trades some of the genre's signature backtracking-through-one-map cohesion for variety — each portrait plays almost like its own mini-game with a distinct palette and enemy set, tied together by returning to the central castle to trade abilities and shop. A relic and skill system layered onto both characters gives it depth closer to Dawn of Sorrow than the SNES-era Castlevania games it otherwise evokes visually.
