Chrono Trigger DS

Chrono Trigger DS brings the legendary 1995 RPG to a portable screen with its time-travel structure intact: Crono and party jump between six different eras — prehistory, the Middle Ages, the present, a ruined future, and beyond — pulling on threads from one era to change events in another. Battles play out directly on the field with no separate encounter screen, and Techs let characters combine attacks for effects neither could pull off solo.

This DS port adds two entirely new dungeons not present in the SNES original, along with a dual-screen touch interface for menus and an improved translation carried over from the 2008 PS1 rerelease. The New Game+ system, multiple endings based on when you take on the final boss, and consistently tight pacing across a roughly 25-hour campaign are the reasons it still tops best-RPG-ever lists three decades on.
