Final Fantasy III DS

Final Fantasy III DS rebuilds the NES original from the ground up as a full 3D remake, bringing the series' first job-change system to a generation of players who never touched the Japan-only original. Four orphans gain the power to switch between over 20 jobs — Knight, Black Mage, Dragoon, Sage and more — swapping freely outside battle to adapt to whatever the next dungeon throws at them.

The remake keeps the NES game's punishing difficulty largely intact, with sparse save points, resource-draining dungeons, and boss fights that expect a properly balanced job loadout rather than raw level grinding. Cutscenes and voiced story beats were added to flesh out a plot that was originally almost wordless, giving more shape to a game long overshadowed by its more famous sequels.
