Kirby's Adventure
ROM download for Delta Emulator iOS · The 1993 original — Kirby's first copy abilities, full color, and one of the last great NES releases
About
Kirby's Adventure came out in 1993, deep into the SNES era, and quietly did something remarkable: it made the fading NES look brand new. Where the original Kirby's Dream Land on Game Boy kept things monochrome and simple, this sequel ran in full color and introduced the mechanic that would define the series ever since — swallow an enemy, and Kirby copies their power outright.
Suddenly Kirby could throw fire, swing a sword, spark electricity, or fly a UFO, and the level design leaned hard into that flexibility, hiding secret rooms and warp stars behind puzzles that only certain abilities could solve. It's Kirby's warm-up for what he'd become across Super Star and Squeak Squad, but it's also just an unusually polished, generous platformer in its own right — the Fountain of Dreams plot is thin, but the moment-to-moment level craft still holds up.
