Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness is the pair version to Explorers of Time, sharing the same personality quiz opening, the same rescue-team premise, and the same central story about a planet-wide paralysis threatening the future — but with its own set of version-exclusive recruitable Pokemon and side dungeons that only appear in this cartridge.

Like Time, Darkness plays as a grid-based roguelike rather than a standard Pokemon RPG: you explore procedurally generated dungeons floor by floor with your partner Pokemon, taking on missions from the guild board, managing hunger and item inventory, and risking a full trip back to town if your team faints too deep inside a dungeon. This original DS pairing predates Explorers of Sky, so it doesn't include Sky's special episodes or Sky Peak area.
