Pokemon Silver

Pokemon Silver is the pair version to Gold, set in the same Johto region with the same day/night cycle, breeding mechanics, and the same full Kanto postgame — but built around Lugia, the Diving Pokemon, as its box-art legendary instead of Ho-Oh. The main story against Team Rocket's attempted comeback plays out identically to Gold, with version-exclusive wild Pokemon and trades as the key differences.

Silver shares Gold's signature achievement in series history: after clearing the Johto League, the entire original Kanto region opens up as a second half of the game, culminating in an optional rematch against the original Red at the summit of Mt. Silver — one of the hardest fights in the franchise at the time.
