Delta is a genuinely free, open-source emulator on the App Store — every console core, save state, cheat engine, and skin system ships in the same build everyone downloads, with nothing gated behind an in-app purchase. That surprises people coming from the GBA4iOS era, where a paid tier once unlocked extra features, because Delta's business model is simply different: there isn't one built into the app.

Riley Testut, Delta's developer, does run a Patreon, but it isn't tied to Delta's feature set at all — it funds his broader work, most notably AltStore, the alternative iOS app marketplace he also built and maintains so apps like Delta can exist outside Apple's official App Store restrictions in regions where that matters. Pledging supports that infrastructure and ongoing development time, not a locked Delta upgrade.

The one practical perk some tiers include is earlier access to test builds distributed through AltStore PAL, the EU marketplace version, letting supporters try new features days or weeks before the general App Store release — with the usual tradeoff that pre-release builds can be rougher around the edges.

Don't skip the free App Store install expecting a stripped-down trial — it's the full emulator, and most players never touch AltStore at all.

AltStore PAL exists specifically because of EU regulation opening up alternative marketplaces — outside the EU, the standard App Store listing is still the simplest path to Delta.
