Pokemon Sigma Emerald

Pokemon Sigma Emerald is built on top of the decompiled Pokemon Emerald engine, which gives it a much smoother base for modern features than most GBA-era hacks can pull off with traditional binary patching. The Hoenn map gets expanded with new routes and areas, so even players who've memorized the original layout will find new corners to explore.

The quality-of-life changes are where it really stands out: EVs and IVs are visible directly in the Pokemon summary screen, movesets and the type chart are brought up to modern standards, and gym leaders offer rematches with stronger teams once you've made progress. There's extended post-game content too, so the Elite Four isn't the end of the road.
