Sonic Advance 3 rounds out the trilogy with a tag-team system — pairing two characters together lets you swap between them mid-run and trigger combo abilities unique to each pairing, like Sonic and Tails sharing a flight boost or Knuckles and Amy getting a heavier ground pound, adding a layer of team composition on top of the usual speed platforming.

Zones are noticeably larger and more multi-path than the earlier Advance games, spread across more acts each, giving the added mobility options from character pairs more room to actually matter. The full playable roster from the previous two games returns, letting you mix and match combinations across the whole cast.
