Pokemon Ruby

Pokemon Ruby was the first entry in the Hoenn generation, introducing the region alongside its pair version Sapphire. Ruby follows Team Magma, who want to expand landmass by awakening the legendary Groudon — the version-exclusive legendary you'll find here, with Kyogre reserved for Sapphire.

Hoenn brought a noticeably different feel from Kanto and Johto: more water routes, a Secret Base system for customizing your own hideout, and Pokemon Contests as an alternate progression path alongside gym battles.
